Attendance is required and makes up most of the ‘class participation’ portion of your grade. Note that your attendance grade will be affected only by unexcused absences; you may be excused from class for illness, family emergency, religious observance, or other Skidmore obligation (e.g. intercollegiate athletic participation) – please let me know in advance if possible.

Anyone with 13 or more unexcused absences (1/3 of the class sessions) can be barred from the final examination and given a grade of F (a Skidmore Faculty Policy.)
